about

This album is the result of the Spring 2016 section of Brown University’s Analog / Digital Hybrids (Mark Cetilia, visiting Assistant Professor), featuring new works by:

Mohamed Atia / Annabelle Barsky / Nicole Carroll / Samantha Dallas / Samuel Dooman / Alexander Dupuis / Martim Galvao / Hollis Jenkins / Ian MacDougald / Nicholas Sarazen / Brenton Stokes

This intensive studio course focused on the creation of experimental sound works utilizing hybrid analog / digital systems developed by
class members. Students investigated synthesis techniques via the SuperCollider programming language / environment and Brown’s ARP 2500 analog modular synthesizer, and leveraged the unique strengths of these tools towards a personal production platform that is more than the sum of its parts.

Special thanks to the Music Department, MEME Program, Butch Rovan, Todd Winkler, Jim Moses. Dean’s Faculty Fellows Program, and Deans Ryan, Blume and Weber. For more information, visit: sites.google.com/site/analogdigitalhybrids/
